Our Vision & Values
At Curry Rivel Church of England Primary School, our Christian foundation is central to our identity and daily life. Inspired by the verse “Healthy trees bearing good fruit” (Matthew 7:17), we nurture every child to grow, flourish, and live out our values in a loving and inclusive community.
Our vision is symbolised by a tree:
- The roots are grounded in the teachings of Jesus, our church and Diocese, and our local and wider community.
- The tree represents our school—strong, supportive, and growing together.
- The fruit reflects our children living out our core Christian values.
We live out our Christian distinctiveness through our ‘5-a-day’ values:
Forgiveness, Kindness, Respect, Thankfulness, and Perseverance.
These values shape our relationships, guide our learning, and help us care for one another and the world around us.

Each of our 5-a-day values is linked to a bible story- find out more via the document below.
Our Christian Distinctiveness
As a Church of England school, we are committed to being a place where everyone is welcomed and respected, regardless of faith or belief. We celebrate diversity and ensure that all members of our community- of all faiths and of no faith- feel valued, included, and supported.
Through our rich and creative curriculum, collective worship, and daily interactions, we aim to develop children who are confident, compassionate, and ready to make a positive difference in the world. Our Christian distinctiveness is not just spoken—it is lived out in the way we learn, grow, and care together.
Collective Worship
At Curry Rivel Church of England Primary School, collective worship is a valued part of our daily life. It provides a calm and reflective space where our whole school community comes together to explore Christian teachings, celebrate our values, and consider how we can live well together. Through stories, prayer, music, and reflection, worship helps us grow spiritually, emotionally, and socially. It encourages children and adults alike to flourish, showing respect for one another and the world around us. We welcome everyone—of all faiths and of no faith—and ensure that collective worship is inclusive, invitational, and inspiring for all.

Religious Education
Religious Education at Curry Rivel Church of England Primary School is a vital part of our curriculum and Christian distinctiveness. Through engaging and thoughtful teaching, we help children explore Christianity and other world faiths, encouraging deep thinking, respectful dialogue, and spiritual development. Our RE curriculum supports pupils in understanding diverse beliefs and values, fostering empathy and respect for others. Rooted in our vision and values, RE helps our whole school community to flourish—spiritually, morally, and socially—while welcoming and valuing everyone, of all faiths and of no faith.

Spirituality
At our school, spirituality is about exploring meaning, connection, and values in a way that respects everyone's beliefs and experiences. It's not just about religion- it’s about understanding ourselves, others, and the world around us.
We use the Windows, Mirrors, and Doors approach to help us reflect and grow:
- Windows let us look into the lives, beliefs, and experiences of others. They help us learn empathy and appreciate diversity.
- Mirrors help us see ourselves- our values, hopes, and questions. They encourage self-awareness and personal growth.
- Doors invite us to step into new experiences, challenge our thinking, and take action to make a difference.
Spirituality is also about noticing and responding to the Wows, Ows, and Nows of life:
- Wows are moments of wonder and joy- like a beautiful sunset, a kind gesture, or a deep conversation.
- Ows are times of challenge or sadness- when we feel hurt, confused, or need support.
- Nows are the present moments- when we pause, reflect, and become aware of what’s happening inside and around us.
Through assemblies, quiet reflection, creative activities, and open conversations, we create space for everyone to explore spirituality in a way that feels meaningful and respectful.

Justice and Responsibility
At Curry Rivel Church of England Primary School, our charitable work is a meaningful expression of our Christian vision and values. Through fundraising, awareness campaigns, and acts of service, we encourage children to take responsibility for others and stand up for justice in the world. Whether supporting local causes or global charities like School in a Bag, our pupils learn that compassion and action go hand in hand. These experiences help our whole school community to flourish, living out our values of kindness, thankfulness, and perseverance while making a positive difference beyond the classroom.

No Outsiders
At Curry Rivel Church of England Primary School, we use the No Outsiders approach to promote inclusion, respect, and equality across our school community. Rooted in the principles of the Equality Act 2010, No Outsiders uses age-appropriate storybooks and discussion to help children understand and celebrate difference—whether in race, religion, gender, family structure, or ability.
This approach complements our Christian vision and values, supporting our belief that every child is uniquely valued and loved by God. It helps us live out our commitment to kindness, respect, and forgiveness, and ensures that our school is a place where everyone is welcome—of all faiths and of no faith.
Through No Outsiders, we encourage children to be compassionate, open-minded, and confident in standing up for what is right, helping our whole community to flourish in a spirit of love and inclusion.
