Pre
School
Welcome
to Curry Rivel Playgroup, incorporating Little Rascals and
Teeny Weenies (Parent/Carer and Toddlers),
Curry
Rivel Playgroup is now located in the School building next
door to the Reception class.
Teeny
Weenies (Parent/Carer & Toddlers)
Tuesday 1.30pm - 3.00 pm
We
have a selection of stimulating toys, colourful books and
activities for the very young and pre school age children.
Parents/Carers can get together for an informal chat, over
a cup of coffee or tea, whilst their children play safely.
Children are encouraged to sit together and have a drink of
milk or squash and a biscuit. We find Teeny Weenies is a vital
link for parents at home with young children who would otherwise
have very little contact with other parents.
Little
Rascals
Monday & Wednesday 1pm – 3pm
Children
can start Little Rascals when they are 2 years old. This is
the first step to independence. Children are encouraged to
stay without their parents, this helps to prepare them for
Playgroup. Children learn to be part of a group and learn
to share, listen, and interact with other children. Children
are observed and files kept using Birth to Three Matters.
During the afternoon we have a social break where the children
sit down at a table and have crackers and fruit with milk
or water.
Playgroup
Monday - Friday 9am - 12 noon.
We
are open in accordance with Curry Rivel Primary School timetable.
Copies are available on request.
Children can start Playgroup the ½ term of their 3rd
birthday. We operate a first come first served policy. We
would prefer them to be dry/potty trained during the day before
the children start at Playgroup however we are flexible.
Each morning the children's names are checked against a register.
Children are encouraged to sit still, listen and answer to
their name. Children learn numbers up to 20, the alphabet
and about the weather.
At mid morning break the children have crackers with milk
or water and a variety of fruits throughout the week. The
children are all asked if they need the toilet, their hands
are washed and dried, and then they learn to recognise their
name before they have their refreshment.
During
the morning the children can join in various activities including,
painting, drawing, colouring, sand, water play, playdough,
cooking, musical instruments, jigsaws, board games and many
other exciting activities. Children learn to hold and use
pencils, crayons and scissors, which helps them when they
start school.
