Little
Rascals
Monday & Wednesday 1pm – 3pm
Children
can start Little Rascals when they are 2 years old. This is
the first step to independence. Children are encouraged to
stay without their parents, this helps to prepare them for
Playgroup. Children learn to be part of a group and learn
to share, listen, and interact with other children. Children
are observed and files kept which carry on into playgroup
with them. During the afternoon we have a social break where
the children sit down at a table and have crackers and fruit
with milk or water.
Playgroup
Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9am - 12 noon.
Tuesday & Thursday 9am - 3pm
We
are open in accordance with Curry Rivel Primary School timetable.
Copies are available on request.
Children
can start Playgroup the ½ term of their 3rd birthday.
We operate a first come first served policy. We would prefer
them to be dry/potty trained during the day before the children
start at Playgroup; however we are flexible.
Each
morning the children's names are checked against a register.
Children are encouraged to sit still, listen and answer to
their name. Children learn to count, the alphabet and about
the weather.
At
mid morning break the children have crackers with milk or
water and a variety of fruits throughout the week. The children
are all asked if they need the toilet, they wash and dry their
hands before eating.
During the morning the children can join in various activities
including, painting, drawing, colouring, sand, water play,
playdough, cooking, musical instruments, jigsaws, board games
and many other exciting activities.
Children learn to hold and use pencils, crayons and scissors,
which helps them when they start school.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays the children can leave at 12pm,
bring a healthy packed lunch and stay until 1pm or stay all
day and leave at 3pm. Children who stay for the day are encouraged
to have a 'quiet time' after lunch. Afternoon activities would
include cooking, gardening, science etc.
