Healthy School

We are now a Healthy School!

Our school now meets all the criteria to achieve National Healthy School Status.

To meet these requirements, we had to work to develop our Personal, Social and Health Education and our provision for the promotion of Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, Emotional Health and Well-Being.

We had to work together with children, parents, staff and governors to audit our provision and carry out an action plan to ensure we would meet the standards.

The main outcomes of this process have been:

    • Pupils, parents, staff and governors are now consulted in the writing and reviewing of policies.
Whole school awareness of food issues; discussion and agreement on what is important to us about the food we consume in school.
    • Pupils undertake more physical activity due to daily Wake and Shake sessions, Cycle Awareness Training and the Walking Passport Scheme.
    • Pupils understand the pastoral system better and have been using it appropriately.
    • The award was presented at a large celebration event with lots of other Somerset schools. We now have a plaque to display in school.
