Over 40 yeas ago I fell off those bars, resulting in a
huge black eye - if you look close enough you'll see the
dent in the playground! |

As an old pupil of the school 1964-67, (head teacher Ron
Willis, deputy Mrs Simmonds) and next door neighbour of
Tracey and Steve I have many fond memories of the school
including trying to sing the then latest Beatles hits
in the playground (saw the Beatles in Taunton once)and
playing on the parallel bars (now gone) outside the main
entrance door. The door is still the same colour blue
after all these years! The website illustrates how much
the school continues to serve well the local community.

I regularly visit the CR Primary School to keep up with
the latest news. I
am SO impressed by the new website. It looks fantastic
and contains so much
information. Well done everyone.

Thank
you for your lovely comments. We are really pleased

Its nice too see that the school has entered the 21st
century , eg smart boards and ecofriendly , but the classrooms
have changed around alot . We miss you Mr Staddon xxxxx
Thank you Ruby and we hope you
are enjoying Huish Episcopi. We've had the smart boards
for over a year and they are proving really useful in
every class. Keep in touch! |

A very good school but i think that they should start
teaching french etc to help with lessons at Huish Episcopi.
Sorry you missed it, but we've been teaching French
for over a year and our Headteacher, Mr Morris (he's great!),
was involved in the appointment of a Modern Foreign Languages
Co-ordinator for the Community Learning Partnership who
will be out and about assisting teachers. |

Those
were the days eh' Mandy -do you still take your tupper
wear cup full of squash (complete with lid) to school
- we all used to have them on our desk and I seem to remember
lettuce and tomato sandwiches were very popular too. Who
are the favourite pin ups today, we had David Cassidy,
Donny Osmond and I think it was Helen Smith from Fivehead
who liked Marc Bolan. The amount of plays we used to practise
should have seen us all on stage ...alas I've spent several
years in London in the fitness industry -and now am based
in Southampton, I'll pop in one day it would be great
to catch up.
Sorry Mandy's taken so long to
reply, she's only part time! We keep her really busy and
she has migrated from lunchtime supervisor, to Teaching
Assistant to the dizzy heights of helping me in the office.
She says "lovely to hear from you. She had forgotten
all about Helen Smith. Still see Helen Rushton now married
to Roy H. Ought to arrange a meal out one night for a
few of the old gang. When you are visiting Curry Rivel
give me a ring - I'm in the phone book" Mandy says
she can't drink out of plastic now - result of above tupperware?? |

Brilliant sports day - great fun to see some healthy
competition ... and that was just the parents, many
of whom are still suffering!
Thank you for your comment.
We have had some very positive feedback. You might like
to check the parents' race photos under General News!

Thank you Mrs Hunt. Are you related to Dudley Hunt (the
estate agent and councillor) of the time I was there?
Yes it was Heather and I think Julia was Phyllis's older
daughter? If memory serves correctly it was Heather
who sang the (then) hit 'Grandad' in a school concert.
I remember Amanda (nee Jenkins) very well. She and Tracey
Osmond used to sit in front of me in the class inspecting
my every move!
Christine Cousins was a very active young teenage member
of the youth club committee in the early 70s after she
left the school. We had teenagers directing things then
- quite revolutionary for deepest Somerset, but it worked,
because they knew what they wanted!
I can't remember Daphne but it will come back.
I also remember putting girls(disguised as boys!) in
the school football teams to strengthen our chances
of winning!
Sylvia Simmonds of Heale was my very helpful and effective
deputy head.
I might pop down on the fete afternoon on the 20th if
I can get away from London.
The name Tilley also rings a bell! Were they twins?
And so does Lock. Could it be Theresa?
That's all for now.
Mrs Hunt was not related to
anyone in the village. We now have a locum headteacher,
Gavin Morris.
Yes Julia was Phyllis' older daughter. Mandy remembers
you well. Tracey's parents and brother still live in
the village. Who could forget Daphne? We have mixed
football, netball and cricket teams now. We're all for
equal opportunities!
Look forward to seeing you on the 20th if you can make
it. Jane has two brothers who are twins. Thanks for
your interest - Wendy (School Office)
